Frequently asked questions

How does K Health treat anxiety and depression?

Our approach mirrors the primary care experience. You’ll start with a conversation with K and learn how others like you were treated. You’ll then connect with a doctor who can diagnose your condition and its severity and provide a comprehensive treatment plan that may include some combination of self-guided behavioral health resources, medications, and/or referral to a therapist or psychiatrist. From then on, you will have to check in monthly for a brief consultation with our doctors or clinicians to receive your refill but don’t worry, we will remind you via text when it is time to check in.

Is anyone eligible to receive treatment?

Everyone has access to a free evaluation to determine if remote care to treat their anxiety and depression could be a good fit. Whether you’re a candidate for our monthly program or not, anyone can decide to talk with one of our doctors to determine the best path to treatment but there will be instances where doctors or clinicians decide it would be safer to be treated in person.

Our Mental Health service is only available for adults 18-85.

Is this a safe way to manage my health?

While treating mental health carries inherent risk, the risk of not treating mental health is far greater. Treatment is tailored to you based on your symptoms, your needs, your experiences and your preferences. For some, this may be therapy; for others, medications and for others, both. We know medication will not impact every person the same way which is why we insist on consistent follow-ups. To err on the side of safety, we do not treat people with severe depression or those with high risk features remotely.

I just finished the free assessment and signed up, how do I get in touch with a doctor?

After you finish our free assessment and fill out your payment information, you will have to complete enrollment by downloading our app, creating a profile, and connecting to a doctor who can figure out the best treatment plan for you. Follow these steps:

  • Download the K Health app here. When you set up your account, use the same email address you used to pay for the anxiety and depression management program
  • Tell K (our AI symptom checker) what’s bothering you. We’ll use this information to get your doctor up to speed
  • We’ll show you results of how people like you were diagnosed. At this point, select ‘Chat with a doctor’
  • You’ll enter some additional information and review and then press submit and your case will be passed to our doctors
  • Stay by your phone, a doctor will be in contact with you within the hour, most times in less than 15 minutes

Can you get anxiety and depression medication online?

Yes! K Health offers anxiety and depression medication prescriptions online as part of the K Health membership for just $12/month. Complete our online assessment and chat with a clinician to get diagnosed and prescribed medication if appropriate. You’ll then receive regular check-ins to make sure your treatment plan is working for you.

Which medications do you prescribe?

In order to provide the best options for depression and anxiety treatment online, we prescribe medications that are considered the safest first-line in the treatment for these conditions. Learn more about what we treat and what prescriptions we provide here. We start with the lowest dose that is medically appropriate and adjust slowly to the extent required. In combination with our bi-weekly follow-ups, we aim to avoid side effects outright or catch them before they become serious.

Can online doctors prescribe Xanax?

No, online doctors cannot prescribe Xanax or any other controlled substance for anxiety treatment. However, there are prescription alternatives to treat anxiety that online providers can prescribe. You can enroll in our Mental Health program—part of the K Health membership—for just $12/month and chat with a clinician to determine a treatment plan.
